1. Prepare the Casco Township Master Plan
   • The Master Plan is the primary policy document to help guide land use decisions of the Township. The Master Plan is to be reviewed by the Planning Commission every five (5) years as required by State law. A public hearing is required prior to action by the Planning Commission.
2. Develop and update the Township Zoning Ordinance
   • The Planning Commission shall develop standards, text, and graphics for the zoning ordinance and make recommendations to the Township Board of Trustees for the adoption of zoning ordinance language. A public hearing is required prior to recommendation by the Planning Commission.
3. Review and make recommendations to the Township Board on all zoning requests
   • Rezoning requests include both text and map change requests that come from an Applicant. A public hearing is required prior to recommendation by the Planning Commission.
4. Review requests for new land uses and new development
   • New land uses and site development are reviewed through the site plan review process. Most new non-residential buildings, land uses, and site development require action by the Planning Commission.  Some minor improvements can be approved administratively. Consult the Township Zoning Ordinance for all the details.
5. Review applications for special land uses
   • By law, special land use approval requires review of both the land use and a site plan.  In Casco Township, approval authority is with the Planning Commission. A public hearing is required for a new special land use.
